A Tex-rrific Christmas!!

I'm more speechless today than I was after Sunday night's Giants game against the Panthers.

The Yankees continued to make a HUGE splash this baseball offseason by landing another big fish; this time in the form of All Star 1B Mark Teixeira.
It took me a few hours, but I think I finally got the spelling of his name right. For the rest of this blog, I'll just stick with calling him Tex.

This is clearly a win-win situation for the Yankees as they get a stellar defense player and run producer (.300 AVG, 30 HRs and 110 RBIs) for the next 8 years, while punching the Red Sox management in the face with the signing. The Red Sox made it clear this offseason that Tex was their top priority. Well, so much for that.

It's been a long time - since Don Mattingly retired in 1995 - that the Yankees had a solid defensive player at 1B. In his 6 year MLB career, Tex has only 39 errors and an awesome .995 fielding percentage. That's phenomenal!!
Welcome to New York, Tex.

Once again in your haste to shit on the Red Sox another fact-less article about the great Skanks. One, Anaheim was the frontrunner for Texiera, the Red Sox did not even field an offer unlike Washington, Baltimore, Anaheim and New York. Number two, didn't Giambi have similar numbers in Oakland before the Yanks signed him to a huge deal? Finally, 180 million for one player??? Wow. Financially even the Yankees have to be nervous about this one...it's not like Texiera is the next Manny Ramirez or Barry Bonds. Plus, how will he respond to the NY media, pressure, etc. He is a great player but they should have gone after another starting/relief pitcher or two for that money. They were 7th offensively and 15th in pitching. The Skanks seem to do better when they develop players in their farm system rather than free agency. Free agents are expensive and prone to busts.

Why no articles about UMD? They won the ACC and National title in soccer a couple of weeks ago...Fridge just got his fourth bowl win (4-2) and UMD bball is actually exceeding expectations. I think I speak for all your readers (me, Megan) that we need more diversity from you than Giants, Yankees, movies....and bathroom remodeling disasters.
